Originally from a small town west of Houston, Texas, Allison Hess (b. 1993) became interested in photography while studying journalism at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is currently works as a photo editor at National Geographic in Washington DC.
She strives to produce photographs that challenge an individual’s perceptions of situations or topics. Through her stories, she hopes that people find what they might have in common with others, rather than what might set us apart.
Allison has worked with such publications as NPR, Bloomberg News, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times’ T Brand Studio, Lincoln Journal Star, The Virginian-Pilot, Houston Press, Curbed, and NET Nebraska.
